Altar of Ember echoes the form of late 19th century brass and gilt cachepots that once adorned European parlors and salons, where decorative metalwork signaled both refinement and permanence. Pieces like this were often inspired by earlier-classical motifs, with scalloped rims and lion-paw or claw feet symbolizing strength, protection, and prosperity.

In the Victorian era, such vessels frequently held flowers, oils, or incense, blending beauty with function in everyday rituals. Over time, many were repurposed as cherished household objects, passed down as quiet witnesses to changing rooms and generations. The warm patina reflects years of handling and light, giving each piece a character that cannot be replicated. Now reimagined as a candle, it continues its tradition of gathering people around gentle light. Once empty, the vessel remains a keepsake-meant to be reused, remembered, and admired long after the flame fades.

Altar of Ember holds 22 ounces of hand-poured wax carrying the scent, Saltwood.
